Carers Awareness Training for Professionals

Our Carers Awareness Training for Professionals helps professionals understand the role of unpaid carers. It also explains how to support them.

Many carers do not recognise themselves as Carers. However, they provide vital support every day.

A Carer supports a relative, partner, friend, or neighbour who needs help. This support is unpaid.

For example, a Carer may help with personal care, emotional support, daily tasks, or supervision.

This training is free and open only to Care professionals and organisations in Northern Lincolnshire.

Carers’ Rights

Carers have important legal rights.

For example, Carers have the right to request a Carer’s Assessment. This assessment looks at the Carer’s needs.

Carers can also receive support to remain in work, education, or training.

Understanding these rights helps professionals support Carers more effectively.

Support available for Carers

Many services exist to support Carers. However, Carers often need help finding them.

The training introduces the support available through our service, The Carers’ Support Service.

This support includes:

                  Information and advice

                  Peer support groups

                  Counselling support

                  Benefits advice

                  Training for Carers

                  Health and wellbeing activities

Why Carer awareness matters

Carers play a vital role in supporting families and communities.

However, many Carers remain hidden. Therefore, raising awareness is essential.

Carers Awareness Training for Professionals helps professionals recognise Carers earlier. It also encourages better support across services and communities.

When Carers receive support, both Carers and those they support benefit.
