A Carer Assessment is your opportunity to identify your goals and to talk about the specific things that could be helpful or make life easier for you.
What is a Carer Assessment?
A Carer Assessment looks at how caring affects you, the support you need now and in the future, and what you want to achieve in daily life.
Any Carer who may need support must be offered a Carer’s Assessment. You can also request an assessment at any time.
You can have an assessment independently of the person you care for. This applies even if they do not receive care or support, or have refused an assessment of their own needs.
Your Carer’s Assessment looks at different aspects of your life, including:
- Your health and wellbeing.
- The care and support you provide.
- Your responsibilities at work and for other relatives or children.
- Whether you have time for yourself and your own interests.
- Your finances and eligibility for welfare benefits.
Depending on your circumstances, a Carer’s Assessment may help you access additional support services.
