Moving to Residential Care?
Caring for someone is a rewarding but challenging role, and the prospect of moving to residential care can bring mixed emotions. All of which are normal! The Carers’ Support Service offers this practical and supportive workshop to help Carers navigate this important transition. Whether the move is planned or unplanned, this session provides guidance, reassurance, and practical advice to ease the process.

During the workshop, Carers will explore both the practical and financial implications of a loved one moving into residential care. We discuss topics such as managing finances, finding the correct care home, and easing into a care home. By providing clear information, the session empowers Carers to make informed decisions with confidence.
The workshop also focuses on the emotional impact of the transition. Carers often experience feelings of guilt, anxiety, or relief, and this session offers strategies to cope with these emotions. Attendees will discover that even when a loved one moves into care, they remain a vital part of their lives. The Carers’ Support Service continues to offer advice, guidance, and emotional support to all Carers, ensuring they never feel alone.
In addition, the workshop highlights resources available to Carers after the transition. From peer support groups and one-to-one sessions to wellbeing workshops, The Carers’ Support Service provides ongoing help tailored to each carer’s individual needs.
By attending, Carers gain confidence, practical knowledge, and reassurance. They also have the opportunity to ask questions, share experiences, and connect with other Carers facing similar challenges.
